Mrs. Dequetta Cannon

Welcome to Havelock Elementary!

I am a proud product of Craven County Schools, having attended James W. Smith Elementary, West Craven Middle School, and graduating from West Craven High School in 2003. With nearly 20 years in education, I began my career after earning my degree from North Carolina A&T State University and have taught in Guilford County, Elizabeth City-Pasquotank, and Wayne County Public Schools.

I hold a Master of Science in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University. In 2021, I returned to Craven County Schools as a District Instructional Coach, where I supported teachers and strengthened curriculum and instruction.

I am excited to serve as Assistant Principal at Havelock Elementary School and look forward to partnering with staff, students, and families to promote academic excellence and a positive, supportive learning environment. I am married to Aaron and am the proud mother of Christian, who also attends school in Craven County.
